Moldovan-Czech Dialogue at Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, July 30, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met with Ambassador of Czechia to the Republic of Moldova, Zdeněk Krejčí.

The two officials reviewed the current stage of the Moldovan-Czech defense relations and the prospects for strengthening the partnership through joint projects that would benefit the two countries’ armies.

The officials also talked about the regional situation, the defense institution’s cooperation with international partners and organizations, and the actions undertaken in the context of National Army’s reformation and modernization including the enhancement of the soldiers’ social package, adjustment of the legal framework, and the achievement of the objectives set within the program “Professional Army”.

Pavel Voicu thanked the Czech official for the advisory assistance and Moldovan soldiers’ training on military cartography and military medicine, as well as for contribution to the implementation of NATO Trust Fund Project on the disposal of dangerous pesticides and chemicals in the Republic of Moldova that was finalized last year.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Defense and the Czech Ambassador agreed on boosting defense cooperation between Moldova and Czechia, also through the support for the National Army’s reformation and the implementation of the second phase of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI).

The Moldovan-Czech defense cooperation started on May 16, 2011 when the Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Defense of Czech Republic was signed in Prague.
