Moldovan-Hungarian Cooperation Discussed at Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, July 30, 2019 — Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu met today with Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Moldova, Szabo Sandor.

The officials reviewed the bilateral defense cooperation and the prospects for its consolidation.

In this regard, the officials referred to the assistance provided by Hungary, as a member of the European Union, aimed at facilitating the participation of Moldovan soldiers in EU-led crisis management missions, reforming the National Army, and supporting, through the Trust Fund, the participation of Eastern Partnership countries, including Moldova, in activities conducted in the framework of EU’s Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).

Pavel Voicu informed Ambassador Szabo Sandor about the priorities of the Ministry of Defense’s leadership, with a focus on the National Army’s reformation process in the context of the implementation of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), the cooperation of our country and the Ministry of Defense with the members of the European Union and international organizations, as well as the global peacekeeping missions to which the Moldovan soldiers are participating within the partnerships.

Szabo Sandor expressed the availability to continue the bilateral military cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the defense institutions of Hungary and the Republic of Moldova.
