Minister of Defense in Dialogue with Head of NATO Liaison Office



CHISINAU, August 1, 2019 — The cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and the achievements obtained within projects implanted together with the international organization have been the main subjects discussed today by Minister Pavel Voicu and Head of NATO Liaison Office, Kristina Baleisyte, at the defense institution’s HQ.

The officials referred to the assistance and expertise provided by NATO in the framework of the National Army’s reformation process, through important programs and initiatives such as the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI), Building Integrity Initiative (BII), and the Moldova-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).

Pavel Voicu informed Kristina Baleisyte about the main actions conducted by the Ministry of defense leadership aiming at modernizing the National Army, with a focus on enhancing service members’ working and living conditions, renovation of military units’ infrastructure, increasing participation in peacekeeping operations and joint actions organized abroad together with representatives of allied and partner nations, thus contributing to reaching the objective of defense institution’s capability building and soldiers’ professional training.

The Minister of Defense appreciated the Alliance’s support in training National Army service members in NATO Schools and within multinational exercises, in compliance with the highest international standards.

The Head of NATO Liaison Office reiterated the availability of the organization she represents to continue the productive cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and to continue to provide assistance during the process of reformation of the defense and security sector.
