Infantrymen from Chisinau are the champions of the National Army in mini-football



CHISINAU, September 27, 2019 - The soldiers of the of “Stefan cel Mare” Brigade ranked first in the National Mini-Football Army Championship. The second place was obtained by the engineers of the "Codru" Battalion, and the third place - by the infantry of the "Moldova" Brigade.

The award ceremony of the winning teams took place today at the headquarters of the "Stefan cel Mare" brigade in Chisinau, attended by the Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu and the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan.

The Minister of Defense handed out medals and diplomas to the winners, appreciating their performance in the competition. "The competition was fierce, but you managed to be the first. I congratulate you and I wish you to continue to be the best, both in the competitions within the army and in the national ones", said Pavel Voicu.

Minister Voicu added that physical training is crucial for a military man`s career, and the management of the institution will focus on the development and promotion of sports at all levels. And that`s because an army is strong only if its troops are in excellent physical condition and can carry out its established missions.

This year`s competition, which took place between September 23-27, in the "Stefan cel Mare" Brigade, was attended by 13 teams, consisting of professional soldiers and in time from all units of the National Army.
