The Military of the National Army planted trees on the National Afforestation Day
Chisinau, October 26, 2019 - The staff of the National Army planted trees on Saturday, October 26, during the action "A tree for our survival", organized on the occasion of the National Afforestation Day.
The Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu, together with the representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, the military and civilian employees of the National Army, planted oak seedlings on an area of about five hectares, on the territory of the Calarasi Forest District Forestry Enterprise.
The military also planted several species of trees and shrubs such as maples, ashes, walnuts and lindens in the Chisinau municipality, adjacent to the "Capul de Pod Serpeni" Memorial Complex and in the military garrisons in Floresti and Causeni.
At the same time, the students of the "Alexandru cel Bun" Military Academy carried out sanitation works on the Bic riverbed on an area of five hectares. As a result of the action, about 20 tons of household wastes were collected with the support of waste collection and transportation services provided by "Regia Autosalubritate".
In total, the military and civilian employees of the National Army planted about 6,000 trees and shrubs.
The National Afforestation Day "A tree for our survival" is an action carried out throughout the country and was established by presidential decree in 1995. Initially, the greening action took place in spring, in April, and since 2011 takes place on the last Saturday in October.
