International conference in the field of weapons and ammunition management, organized by the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, November 7, 2019 - About 30 representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations, as well as military and civilian officials from the Republic of Moldova, discussed today the achievements of our country on ammunition stockpile management and security of small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition at a high-level conference in the field, organized by the Ministry of Defense.
Present at the event, held at the Military Academy of the Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun", the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, mentioned that the Ministry of Defense and the National Army make efforts to secure ammunition storage sites and collaborate with international organizations especially with the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, to achieve this goal. "We will continue to implement actions aimed at the efficient management of ammunition stocks in specialized warehouses, so as to increase the level of safety for the population in the region" said Brigadier General Igor Gorgan.
The Commander of the National Army thanked the representatives of the partner countries and international organizations for assistance and expertise for carrying out the projects within the National Army Action Plan for 2017-2020 in the field of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), Conventional Ammunition (CA), and Security Physics and Stock Management (PSSM).
OSCE representatives participated in the second edition of the High-level National SALW and CA Conference on "Small Arms and Light Weapons, Conventional Ammunition, and Physical Security and Stock Management in the National Army" and the Red Cross, as well as experts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
The agenda of the conference included topics on the actions and progress made by the Republic of Moldova in ammunition management and planning of subsequent activities in the targeted segment.
