Moldovan-Turkish Defense Cooperation Discussed by Minister Gaiciuc and Ambassador Sökmensüer

CHISINAU, December 3, 2019 – The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc had a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Gürol Sökmensüer.

The talks focused on cooperation between the two countries` armies and the prospect of deepening it, as well as on the priorities of the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense.

Victor Gaiciuc mentioned during the meeting that the National Army will continue to cooperate with external partners, including Turkey, by applying a policy of neutrality and balanced relations of friendship.

The Minister Gaiciuc added that Turkey has extensive experience in the field of defense and security, which would be an example for the National Army, an institution that wants to develop and reform its subordinate institutions.

For his part, Ambassador Gürol Sökmensüer said that Turkey is open to supporting the Republic of Moldova in the defense segment, by carrying out current projects and initiating new ones.
