Moldovan-Austrian cooperation was discussed by Minister Gaiciuc and Ambassador Freilinger



CHISINAU, December 11, 2019 – The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc had a meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Chisinau, Christine Freilinger.

The officials reviewed the collaboration between the defense institutions of the two countries, carried out through the OSCE, with a focus on projects aimed at improving the management of ammunition stocks in the National Army depots and training personnel.

On this occasion, Minister Gaiciuc thanked the Austrian side for its contribution, as the leading country of the multinational group of instructors in the field of Small Arms, Small Arms and Conventional Ammunition (SALW), to the training of the National Army and representatives of other government structures.

Victor Gaiciuc also appreciated the logistical assistance - 2 mobile sets for the analysis and testing of ammunition powders and propellants (QPAK-13), donated to the National Army of Austria, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland in 2017.

At the same time, the Minister of Defense mentioned that Austria is for the Republic of Moldova an example in terms of cooperation with external partners, while respecting the status of neutrality.

Victor Gaiciuc congratulated, during the meeting, the new Austrian attaché of the Defense for our country, based in Kiev, Colonel Manfred Stacher, and wished him success in the exercise of his mandate.

In the end, the officials agreed to boost cooperation in the military segment between the Republic of Moldova and Austria.
