The Military Exercise “Horizon 2020” Conducted in Bulboaca (video)



CHISINAU, March 5, 2020 The military of the National Army have carried out practical training within tactical exercise “Horizon 2020” in Bulboaca.

The event was attended by The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, and representatives of the National Army Commanding Officer Corps, as well as the military attachments accredited to the Republic of Moldova.

According to the scenario, more than 500 soldiers on duty and by contract from the “Stefan cel Mare Academy” motorized infantry brigade, the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion, the Anti-Air Missile Regiment and the Training Center of the National Army, fired light and heavy weapons of infantry and 2S9 ground artillery systems, anti-aircraft artillery systems and machine guns AZP-57, ZU-23-2, SPG-9 grenade launchers.

The training program also included a front-end review of the military equipment of the units, among them BTR-80, BMD, MTLB, HMMWV, as well as staff missions according to the tactical situation and the training places with the presentation of the sub-units` actions in different operations (peacekeeping and defense).

At the end of the exercise, Minister of Defense, Victor Gaiciuc appreciated the military’s skill and professionalism in carrying out the missions established at the training sites. “In December last year, we attended our colleagues’ demonstration during the exercises at “Cetatea de Nord” and “Cetatea de Sud”. Then, as now, I am convinced that our soldiers are good, always ready to carry out their missions under any conditions. Such training is an important element of maintaining the fighting capacity of the National Army” said Minister Gaiciuc.

“Horizon 2020” is part of the National Army`s combat preparedness plan for the current year and aims to prepare officers, sergeants and soldiers in combat conditions and to evaluate the forces and means involved in the exercise.
