The "Alexandru cel Bun" Military Academy temporarily stopped its studies

CHISINAU, March 13, 2020 - The Military Academy of the Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun" has temporarily suspended its educational process. The decision was taken based on the order of the Minister of Defense of March 12, in the context of a recent decision of the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the Rector Commander of AMFA, Colonel Sergiu Plop, in order to ensure the safety, protection of life and health of students and trainees, but also to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus epidemic, studies at the military institution were interrupted from March 12 to March 23.

The source added that in addition to the lessons, all the specialized courses, carried out within the Academy, with the participation of the military by contract from the garrisons of the National Army, were also stopped.

Colonel Plop mentioned that in this context, the direct teaching process has been replaced by the online or distance one.

At the same time the third and fourth year students work by themselves on their annual thesis and bachelors degree, while coordinating with their teachers via the internet or by phone.

It should be mentioned that prevention and precautionary measures have been taken in all units of the National Army and the institutions of the Ministry of Defense in connection with the seasonal increase in the number of acute respiratory infections, but also as a result of detecting cases of Coronavirus in Republic of Moldova.

Thus, at the instructions of the Minister of Defense, the access of foreigners and visitors to the units of the National Army and mass activities were prohibited. At the same time, the soldiers at the checkpoints were provided with protective masks and disinfectant solutions. At the same time, the medical specialists within the units monitor the health status of the staff on a daily basis.
