The Draft Law on the Establishment of the Memorial “The 75th Anniversary of Victory in Second World War”, approved by the Government



Chisinau, March 25, 2020 - The members of the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law on the establishment of the Commemorative Medal "75 years since the victory in the Second World War". The document was drafted by the Ministry of Defense and is to be presented to Parliament for examination.

The project was presented today, during the Government meeting, by the Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari.

According to the official, the concept of the distinction was elaborated by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, together with the specialists of the National Heraldry Commission attached to the President of the Republic of Moldova.

The commemorative medal "75 years since the victory in the World War II" is a commemorative state distinction and will be awarded to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova - veterans of World War II - in accordance with the Law on Veterans.

The medal badge is a monochromatic round medallion, in brown gold, with a diameter of 30 mm and a suspension handle at the top. The sign is made of patinated tombac.

On the obverse, there is a stylized image of the sculptural composition of the monument in Chisinau dedicated to the liberation of Moldova from fascist occupation.

According to the decision, the expenses for making the medal are estimated at about 157.5 thousand lei and are to be allocated from the state budget.

The draft law was elaborated based on the Government Decision no. 61/2020 regarding on the organization and conduct of events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory Day and the commemoration of fallen heroes for the independence of the Fatherland, in order to pay tribute to war veterans who participated in the World War II in quality of gratitude for patriotism and heroic deeds manifested during combat actions.
