CHISINAU, April 9 , 2020 — The Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari and the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, met today with the soldiers who participated in the arrangement of the Public Medical-Sanitary Institution COVID-19 Center Chisinau, in support of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

The officials thanked the officers and soldiers, who were involved in the preparation of the center for receiving patients.

"These days, when we are facing a significant increase in the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus, the contribution of the military to the efforts of setting up the center is very important. I am glad that for almost two weeks you have demonstrated professionalism and organization, providing the necessary support to our colleagues from other responsible institutions, so that the works can be completed in time ", said the Minister of Defense of the military.

Alexandru Pinzari added that the National Army will continue to provide support to the authorities in their efforts to prevent the new type of virus. "We remain at the disposal of the management of the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center and the representatives of the institutions directly involved in the fight against COVID-19 and we’ll help where it will be necessary", mentioned Minister Pinzari.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Defense within the COVID-19 Center, Colonel Sergiu Cirlan, starting with 31st of March, about 120 soldiers from the Motorized Infantry Brigade "Stefan cel Mare" participated in the sanitation and the evacuation of the pavilions inside the Center, the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd pavilion arrangement of the Center, assembling the speakers, as well as transporting the beds, equipment and medical equipment of the first aid.

The source specified that at the same time, from the Central Military Clinical Hospital and from the "Stefan cel Mare "Brigade, 135 beds were brought to the patients to be healed inside MOLDEXPO.
