Review: More than 800 National Army soldiers last week offered support to authorities in fighting COVID-19



CHISINAU, April 13, 2020 — More than 800 National Army military were involved last week, in support of the authorities, in actions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Thus, according to the data provided by the Operational Command Center, between April 6-12 this year, over 600 soldiers patrolled, together with the police, the public spaces and leisure places in the municipalities of Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.

At the same time, around 70 officers and soldiers from the Peacekeeping Battalion and the Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, with 11 technical units, ensured the monitoring and surveillance of the movement of people and transport at fixed stations installed at the entrances and exits of Soroca and Stefan Voda, as well as in the quarantined villages of Carahasani and Talmaza in the Stefan Vodă municipality.

At the same time, teams of soldiers from the “Stefan cel Mare” Motorized Infantry Brigade disinfected the headquarters of the post offices in Chisinau, as well as the flats and dormitories, where contract soldiers and their families live, and participated in the Center's arrangement works of third parties COVID-19 of the Moldexpo.

 

During the same period, 600 medical personnel, working in strategic medical institutions in the country, were transported to work and home with transport units equipped by the National Army, and the Central Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defense provided medical assistance for about 200 people with symptoms of COVID-19.
