Tighter measures to prevent the new coronavirus in the National Army



CHISINAU, April 22, 2020 — Actions to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus have been tightened in the National Army at the behest of Defense Minister Alexandru Pinzari, in connection with the increase in the number of acute respiratory infections, but also as a result of COVID- 19 in the institution.

Thus, Alexandru Pinzari ordered the immediate undertaking of self-isolation measures at home with the family members of the employees diagnosed positively at COVID-19 and of the colleagues who contacted them, as well as the disinfection of the offices within the institution.

At the same time, Minister Pinzari asked the military psychologists to be included in the provision of psychological counseling to the infected persons, but also to their family members, to all employees and soldiers within the units. "I must note that psychologists, all this time, have communicated quite intensely with the military, their parents and families," said the Minister of Defense.

At the same time, the Minister of Defense reduced the number of staff present at the service to the maximum. "Most of the civilian and military employees work remotely, communicating and checking the quality of the work done daily. I come with a repeated urge to all my colleagues to protect themselves, even if we understand that no one is 100% assured that he will not contact this virus. Good security outweighs bad danger", said Alexandru Pinzari.

According to the head of the Military Inspectorate, Colonel Victor Pirtina, in order to combat COVID-19, the situation in the army units and in the institutions of the Ministry of Defense is permanently verified by specialists within the structure, by performing daily thermometry at building entrances and control points, but also by the supervision of the medical workers of the state of health of the military and civilian employees.

The source specified that the staff is provided with everything necessary to prevent the spread of the virus, including disinfectants and personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves.

Colonel Pirtina added that the regular disinfection and sanitation of the blocks of flats and dormitories, where the soldiers live under contract, as well as of the rooms on the territory of the units and the transport from the endowment also continue.

NOTE: The Military Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense urges the military and civilian staff of the National Army to respect the rules of hygiene and the recommendations of doctors, to avoid contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections, to avoid traveling abroad and being in crowded places, to wash frequently on the hands, use the personal protective mask. At the same time, in case of the first symptoms of respiratory infection, seek medical attention urgently.
