The military, on duty, in support of the authorities` efforts to combat COVID-19



CHISINAU, May 1, 2020 - Service members of the National Army continue to carry out missions, together with police and carabinieri, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus throughout the country.

Thus, according to the data provided by the Operational Command Center, this week, over 500 soldiers were involved in patrols on foot in the municipalities of Balti, Chisinau and Cahul.

At the same time, more than 130 officers, sergeants and soldiers from the "Moldova" and "Dacia" Motorized Infantry Brigades, the Anti-Air Regiment, the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion and the "Fulger" Special Force Battalion, with technical units, monitored and supervised the movement of people and vehicles at 23 fixed stations installed in the towns of Soroca, Stefan Voda, Glodeni, the villages of Talmaza (Stefan Voda), Brinzeni (Edinet), Etulia and Cismichioi (Vulcanesti).

During the same period, 728 medical workers were transported to work and home with National Army vehicles.

It should be noted that the military will continue to be on duty to support the efforts of the authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On his Facebook page, Minister of Defense, Alexandru Pinzari, urged the citizens to follow the recommendations and stay at home.
