Renovated EOD technical units in the National Army



CHISINAU, July 13, 2020 — Four repurposed demining engineering units were presented at the National Army Training Centre in Bulboaca.

Minister of Defence Alexandru Pinzari and the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, sought to test the functionality of EOD vehicles and bomb squads.

Minister Alexandru Pinzari highlighted the contribution of National Army engineers to the safety of citizens by identifying and neutralizing explosive objects left in the soil, as well as the safety and safety of bomb squads during mine clearance missions.

"For the past two months, we have been closely following the actions of our engineers in the

demining operation in Baltati. Your work poses huge risks. For this reason we have ordered to pay close attention to EOD technology and equipment. I know, however, that you are well-trained, professional and cautious in everything you do. I am sure that these repurposed technical units will be useful in the day-to-day work in the missions you carry out for your safety, as well as of every citizen of the Republic of Moldova," said the Minister of Defence.

According to the commander of the Genius Battalion, Lieutenant-Colonel Gheorghe Racu, the event to present the technique was attended by four teams from the Motorized Infantry Brigades "Moldova", "Stefan cel Mare" and "Dacia", as well as the Genius Battalion "Codru".

Each transport unit was thoroughly repaired and re-equipped, thus taking into account the safety of transporting explosive objects and the comfort of the detached staff at demining missions in the country.

Since the beginning of 2020, the engineers of the National Army have neutralized over 2,000 explosive objects in the localities from the districts of Stefan Voda, Causeni, Hincesti, Ialoveni and Anenii Noi.

CHISINAU, July 14, 2020 - The Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari, together with the Chief of the General Staff, the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, made unexpected visits to two units in the Balti garrison, to check the level of military training for the year 2020.

Thus, at the "Decebal" Aviation Regiment, the officials repeatedly inspected the infrastructure of the unit, the service and living conditions of the staff, as well as the car park with the technical units provided.

Subsequently, the two flew with the AN-2 air to the Training Center of the "Moldova" Brigade in Balti, where they tested the recently redesigned runway from the training ground. During the visit, the leadership of the National Army watched a march of the renovated equipment from the unit, and about 100 soldiers from the brigade fired demonstrations from the infantry weapons.

"Today we witnessed an exercise with the involvement of officers, sergeants and soldiers from two units in the northern part of the country, very important for the National Army. I was impressed by the high level of training and professionalism of the staff. I appreciate the work done by the military, including mechanics and drivers, in restoring the technique, which, although obsolete, is functional ", said Alexandru Pinzari.
