CHISINAU, July 16, 2020 - The soldiers of the Honor Guard Company, who, on June 24, participated in the parade organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory Day in Moscow, Russian Federation, received Special Diplomas from the President of the Republic of Moldova , Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Igor Dodon. At the same time, five of them were decorated by the Minister of Defense with distinctions of the National Army.

During the official ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Defense, Igor Dodon said that the presence of the contingent from the Republic of Moldova, consisting of 75 soldiers, was a tribute to our compatriots who sacrificed their lives for the Great Victory. "We thanked the soldiers of the Honor Guard for the fact that they deservedly presented the Republic of Moldova together with the military from many other countries, demonstrated excellent military training and had an impeccable performance," said the country`s president.

In his turn, the Minister of Defense mentioned that this recognition of the merits of the Guard of Honor comes after the multiple appreciations we receive from foreign partners, wherewith pride, devotion and sacrifice we represent the country and the institution of defense.

"You have a record of participating in military parades in different countries and I am convinced that in the future, whenever we are invited to participate in events, you will demonstrate the same sense of military honor and duty, characteristic of those enlisted under the Tricolor" , specified Alexandru Pinzari.

"I am pleased that you have shown responsibility, succeeding, even in this difficult period of fighting the pandemic, to be representatives at the highest level in the military parade in Moscow. You have returned home healthy, proud of the impeccable performance you have shown, and this is the most important thing ", added the Minister of Defense in his address to the staff participating in the event.

It should be mentioned that after returning to the Republic of Moldova, the contingent of the Honor Guard Company was placed in strict quarantine for two weeks, in compliance with all protection measures against COVID-19. Cases of infection with the new coronavirus among the 75 soldiers were not recorded.

So far, the Moldovan military has participated in parades in countries such as Bulgaria, France, Lithuania, Romania, Ukraine, the Russian Federation.
