Tactical exercise "Forest 2020", held in Negresti (video)

CHISINAU, July 24, 2020 - The engineers of the National Army participated, today, in the tactical exercise "Codru 2020", held at the Military Training Center of the Genius Battalion in Negresti.

The final stage of the applications was attended by the Minister of Defense, Alexandru Pinzari, the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General, Igor Gorgan and the command corps of the National Army.

The officials followed the actions of the engineers according to the tactical situation at different training places, the front magazine of the repaired military equipment, the presentation of the material base for exceptional situations and the briefing about the exercise.

According to the commander of the Genius Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Gheorghe Racu, about 150 soldiers performed several missions: removing obstacles on the route, researching a minefield, planting a minefield with the help of the mine planter, as well as destroying explosives.

The Minister of Defense, Alexandru Pinzari highlighted the professionalism and the importance of the missions carried out by the military engineers on the territory of our country.

"The training that the engineers show in the execution of the demining operations is known by all as a very good one. Only yesterday, the engineers found 28 explosive objects. At the same time, the trainings with the involvement of the special genetic technique develop the capacities of the staff in the execution of the support missions to the state authorities in situations of natural calamities, thus every citizen feeling protected and safe", said Alexandru Pinzari.

As a sign of appreciation of the professionalism in fulfilling the missions, but also for the efforts made during the deminations, the Minister of Defense decorated a group of engineers with medals and diplomas.

It should be mentioned that the exercise "Forest 2020" was carried out in accordance with the plan of combat training of the National Army and aimed at developing the capabilities of the staff to fulfill missions and tasks both in peacetime and in exceptional situations.
