Blood Donation Campaign on the eve of National Army Day (video)



CHISINAU, September 2, 2020 - The military and civilian employees of the National Army, as well as the students of the Military Academy "Alexandru cel Bun" (AMFA), today donated blood and plasma at the collection points set up in the Chisinau, Balti and Cahul garrisons.

The action, entitled "On the Day of the National Army, the military saves lives", is organized by the Ministry of Defense, in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Center, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the creation of the National Army.

According to the head of the Military Inspectorate, Colonel Victor Pirtina, the Ministry of Defense has set up collection centers in the Motorized Infantry Brigades "Moldova", "Stefan cel Mare" and "Dacia", the Staff Regiment (former Military Camp 142), AMFA headquarters, as well as and at the National Transfusion Center in Chisinau and at the territorial blood donation centers.

The source specified that in total, over 450 soldiers and civilian employees, as well as students, expressed their desire to participate in this action, including 25 people who were treated for COVID-19.

The campaign was also attended by the Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari, together with the Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, who donated blood to the National Blood Transfusion Center.

During the event, Alexandru Pinzari mentioned that through this campaign, the staff of the National Army wanted to make a nice gesture on the eve of the Professional Day and to offer a chance to life to the citizens with health problems.

"Based on the epidemiological situation we all face, we decided this year to celebrate National Army Day differently. I am glad that a large number of soldiers and civilians in the institution responded to our initiative and joined us in this much-needed campaign today. We want that action to become a tradition. I encourage all citizens to donate blood, because only in this way can we contribute to saving lives", said the Minister of Defense.

 

Annually, over 2000 soldiers on time and by contract, but also civilian employees of the National Army, donate blood in campaigns organized in partnership with specialized institutions in the country.
