Moldovan-American dialogue at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, September 29, 2020 - Minister of Defense Alexandru Pinzari and US Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan discussed at the defense institution`s headquarters about the current stage of bilateral cooperation and the prospectiveof its development.

Thus, the two officials referred to the joint activities in which the Moldovan military participated during the cooperation with those in the US Army, but also to the assistance projects carried out for the benefit of the National Army, with the support of American partners. In this sense, Minister Alexandru Pinzari appreciated their contribution to the renovation of the military infrastructure, the development of military education, as well as the professional training of the army.

The agenda of the talks also included topics on participation in international peacekeeping operations and ways to expand the presence of the National Army in various peacekeeping missions.

The parties also addressed the achievements of our country in the context of the Defense Capacity Building Initiative (DCBI) and the National Army`s Military Capabilities Development Plan 2020-2030 (PDCMAN 2020-2030) and analyzed the possibility of the US providing support on various areas, thus contributing to the modernization and development of the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova. In the end, the two officials agreed on continuing bilateral cooperation in the defense segment by carrying out joint projects, beneficial to both armies.
