Cooperation with the United Nations, discussed in a video conference at the Ministry of DefenseCHISINAU December 16, 2020 - Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc had an online meeting today with Simon Springett, the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova. UN Women and UNDP Resident Representatives Dominika Stojanoska and Dima Al-Khatib, respectively, took part in the discussion. The main topics addressed referred to the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the UN, as well as the projects and programs carried out in support of the sectoral reform and the development of the capabilities of the National Army. Thus, the Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc thanked the UNDP and UN Women in Moldova for their contribution to the implementation of the Assistance Project in Security Sector Reform in the Republic of Moldova 2018-2020, the purchase of specialized equipment for medical and communications institutions of the Ministry of Defense, the implementation of at the national level of UN Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security", as well as the organization, through the zoom platform, of the International Scientific-Practical Conference "Women, Peace and Security": ensuring human security, promoting sustainable peace and conflict prevention ", with on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of that Resolution. In turn, UN officials appreciated the progress made by the defense institution in the joint profile programs and reiterated the organization's commitment to continue providing support for the implementation of projects initiated in the defense sector. |
