About 3,800 new cards for war veterans


CHISINAU, January 16, 2021 - Approximately 3,800 new cards were issued in 2020 for war veterans.

According to the Secretary of State for Human Resource Development, Military Education and Resource Planning, Vladimir Iliev, who is also chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission for Ensuring the Change and Issuance of the War Veteran Card formed in 2018, out of the total number of cards, three were intended for veterans of World War II, 591 were developed for veterans of combat operations in Afghanistan, 3 107 - for veterans of combat actions to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, 77 - for veterans of combat actions from Afghanistan, who also participated in combat actions to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, and 21 - for veterans of combat operations in the territories of other states (except Afghanistan) and persons assimilated to participants in the war.

The source specified that the documents were completed as a result of the examination of more than 5,000 files submitted to confirm or reconfirm the status of a war veteran. It should be mentioned that the action of changing the old war veteran ID cards with the new model ones took place in the context of the realization of the Plan “Memory. Honor. Respect ”, which aims to strengthen the trust and improve the social and legal protection of war veterans, participants in fighting in Afghanistan and to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, approved by Government Order no. 52-d of April 19, 2016.

Since the beginning of 2018, more than 19,000 new model cards for war veterans have been completed.
