Mission accomplished for the KFOR-13 contingent! (video)



 

CHISINAU, January 18, 2021 – The military from the 13th National Army contingent have completed their mission in Kosovo and returned home. On this occasion, today, a ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defense, attended by the Minister of Defense in office Victor Gaiciuc, the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General Igor Gorgan, as well as officers from the command corps.

During the event, Acting Minister Victor Gaiciuc thanked the 40 peacekeepers for their excellent performance in the KFOR peacekeeping operation.

"I know that you had a more difficult mission, because you worked during the pandemic, in which you had to respect more than ever the safety measures in order to return home healthy, to your family. At the same time, you have managed to carry out your tasks in the theater of operations to high standards and gain the trust of the partners you have interacted with in Kosovo. I appreciate the professionalism you have shown in these six months of office. At the same time, I express my gratitude to those who supported you and were with you from a distance, when you needed encouragement or advice ", said Victor Gaiciuc.

For the way they fulfilled their obligations in KFOR, a group of soldiers received diplomas from the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Defense, as well as distinctions from the National Army.The KFOR-13 contingent was in Kosovo from July 2020 to January 2021, where it carried out security, patrol and genius missions in the area of responsibility. He was replaced by another contingent of Moldovan soldiers in a transfer ceremony held on Friday, January 15, at the Italian base "Camp Vilaggio" in Pech.
