National Army Servicemen Go to Sea Breeze Exercise



CHISINAU, June 6, 2011 — Over 60 National Army servicemen will participate in the Sea Breeze 2011 Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise held June 8-15 in Ukraine.

The National Army deployed seven officers of Main Staff, seven EOD Engineers, 18 paratroopers and an infantry platoon of 30 servicemen from the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion to Sea Breeze this year.

The head of the National Army contingent, Maj. Vadim Moraru, stated the Main Staff of the exercise would work in Odessa, while the troops would be deployed to Shirokyi Lan Training Site from Mykolayv region.

“The goal of the exercise is to enhance interoperability of multinational troops during peacekeeping missions. According to the scenario, the National Army service members will be engaged in peacekeeping operations, counter piracy activities, amphibious and jumping operations”, Vadim Moraru said.

This year, Sea Breeze 2011 Exercise will bring together nearly 2000 service members from 13 countries such as: Ukraine, USA, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Georgia, Canada, Macedonia, Moldova, Germany, Turkey and France.

“Sea Breeze 2011” is a multinational Partnership for Peace peacekeeping exercise. The National Army has been participating in this exercise since 2007.
