Italian Ambassador to Chisinau was decorated with the "For Cooperation" medal of the National Army



CHISINAU, February 16, 2021 - Acting Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc received, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, the working visit of the Italian Ambassador to Chisinau, Valeria Biagiotti, on the occasion of the end of her term in the Republic of Moldova.

Victor Gaiciuc thanked the official for her successful performance and support for the defense institution during her term of office and wished her success in her diplomatic career.

As a sign of appreciation for the significant contribution to boosting cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Italian Embassy in Chisinau, as well as the personal contribution to the National Army, Minister Gaiciuc decorated Ambassador Biagiotti with the "For Cooperation" medal.

In her turn, Valeria Biagiotti mentioned that it was a privilege to hold the position of Italian ambassador in our country, specifying that Italy will continue to be with the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Defense.

The two officials reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation on the military dimension, focusing on the Italian side`s contribution to facilitating the participation of Moldovan contingents in the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo since 2014.

At the same time, during the meeting, Ambassador Biagiotti introduced the new Italian military attaché in Chisinau, Colonel Ivano Antonio Romano, who gave assurances that he will make every effort to successfully carry out bilateral cooperation activities between the two countries` defense institutions.

In the end, the dignitaries advocated the promotion of bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and Italy in the military segment, as well as the identification of new joint projects.

 

The Moldovan-Italian defense partnership dates back to 2006.
