Military distinctions for veterans of the struggles for the defense of the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, March 1, 2021 - A group of veterans of the struggles to defend the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova was decorated by Acting Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc with distinctions of the National Army.

The "For the Strengthening of the Brotherhood of Arms" and "For Cooperation" medals were awarded in appreciation of the great successes in the field of activity, the promotion of peace and democracy in the world, the strengthening of interinstitutional cooperation, as well as the 29th anniversary of the armed conflict on the Dniester.

"Today, on the eve of Remembrance Day, we decided to invite you here, at the Ministry of Defense, to remember together the heroic deeds of the brave soldiers who fought to defend the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova, but also to pay tribute to those who died in Dniester War.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the courage you showed in 1992 and for the example of patriotism you are currently giving to the younger generation. In this context, I express my appreciation for the vigilance and devotion you showed 29 years ago and I want to assure you of my full support, as Minister and President of the National Council for the Problems of War Veterans, "said the Minister Gaiciuc during the meeting with the veterans.

In accordance with the Government`s provision no. 13-d of February 12, 2021, during the current year, war veterans, families of those who fell in the struggles to defend the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova and people with disabilities from the conflict will benefit from social protection services, material aid, but also healthcare.

It should be mentioned that, at present, in the Republic of Moldova are registered about 26,000 veterans of the struggles for the defense of the independence and integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
