A Memorial Church in honor of the fallen heroes will be built at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, May 5, 2021 - Acting Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc, together with the Chief of the General Staff, Brig. Gen. Igor Gorgan, and the military from the National Army Command Corps, participated in the consecration ceremony for the construction of a sanctuary on the territory of the institution. Wooden memorial church - will be dedicated to the "Bine credinciosului Voievod Stefan cel Mare si Sfint" and will honor the memory of the fallen soldiers for the faith and the country.
During the event, His Eminence Vladimir, Metropolitan of Chisinau and all Moldova, accompanied by a council of priests, officiated a divine service followed by the installation of a cross on the place where the altar of the future church will be erected.
The Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc mentioned that the holy place comes to complete the series of churches and chapels located on the territories of several units of the National Army. "I believe that religious assistance in the National Army contributes to the patriotic education of all categories of the military, and the construction of this church is especially important for the military and civilian employees working in the Ministry of Defense, General Staff, and Chisinau garrison, because they will have the opportunity to participate in divine services or pray on religious holidays and beyond”.
It should be noted that the construction project of the memorial church is provided in the joint action plan on promoting the spiritual education and religious assistance of the National Army for 2021, signed in November last year between the Ministry of Defense and the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and All Moldova.
