Meeting at the Ministry of Defense with the military attaché of the Slovak Republic



CHISINAU, May 19, 2021 - State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense for Defense Policy, National Defense Planning and Military Interoperability had a meeting today with the Slovak military attaché for the Republic of Moldova, based in Kiev, Colonel Josef Šury, at the end of mandate in our country.

Aurel Fondos thanked the official for his efforts in the context of bilateral cooperation and wished him success in his subsequent work.

During the dialogue, the two officials discussed the state of cooperation relations on the defense segment between the two states, but also the prospects for their intensification in areas of common interest, while respecting the neutrality status of our country.

Other topics addressed were the results of the implementation of the Defense Capabilities Strengthening Package (DCBI) and the National Army`s long-term military capabilities development plan 2020-2030.

The State Secretary Aurel Fondos reiterated his gratitude for the assistance provided by the Slovak Republic to the participation of the Moldovan military in the European Union Military Training and Counseling Mission for the Defense and Security Forces of Mali - EUTM.

In turn, Colonel Josef Šury expressed hope that the cooperative relations between the armies of the Republic of Moldova and the Slovak Republic will continue to develop in different important segments. The Cooperation Agreement between the Ministries of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Slovak Republic was signed on 17 August 2005 and entered into force on 23 March 2006.
