ONU official at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, May 25, 2021 - Acting Minister of Defense Victor Gaiciuc met today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Republic of Moldova, Dima Al-Khatib.
The main topics addressed in the dialogue referred to the cooperation of the defense institution with the United Nations and the assistance projects offered for the development of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, Minister Gaiciuc thanked the official for the support provided in the endowment with modern equipment of the medical institutions and subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense and the National Army, but also of the Center for Communications and Informatics.
At the same time, Victor Gaiciuc appreciated UNDP support in promoting gender equality in the military structure, including assistance in organizing the International Scientific-Practical Conference "Women, Peace and Security" ensuring human security, promoting lasting peace and conflict prevention ", held last year 20 years since the adoption of UN SC Resolution 1325.
The Minister of Defense also mentioned that the institution he leads has a constant policy of neutrality and transparent cooperation with all external partners. For his part, Dima Al-Khatib emphasized the effective bilateral collaboration established over the years between the two institutions and the progress made in implementing the joint projects. At the same time, the UNDP Resident Representative reiterated the openness for collaboration on other issues for the benefit of both institutions.
