Ammunition chemical testing equipment donated to the National Army



CHISINAU, December 2, 2021 —The National Army received a batch of specialized laboratory equipment for analysis and testing, provided by the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova and Austria, in an official ceremony held today at the National Army Weapons and Ammunition Center.

The event was attended by the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii, the head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch, and the Austrian Ambassador to our country, Stella Avallone.

The donation includes specialized chemical testing equipment, administrative equipment, furniture, but also major repair work on the rooms provided for the laboratory.

Minister Anatolie Nosatii thanked the representatives of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova and Austria for their assistance in various projects in the field of physical security and the management of arms and ammunition stocks, noting that the material goods and specialized laboratory equipment donated today will be of great help to specialists work in the field, but at the same time play a significant role in the safety of the civilian population and the protection of the environment. "At the same time, this activity is an opportunity to bring back to the attention of the national and international community the efforts of the Ministry of Defense to reduce the risk of uncontrolled explosion at the ammunition storage sites. The special equipment we receive today, as well as the training provided in this field to the Moldovan military, is another important step in our collaborative relations with the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Austrian partners and other external partners" declared the Minister of Defense.

The donation takes place within the projects started according to the National Army Action Plan for 2020-2024 in the field of physical security and stockpile management of small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition and is intended for the Armament and Ammunition Center of the National Army. The specialized laboratory equipment has the research capability in the field of testing the stability of powders and pyrotechnic means.

It should be noted that the cooperation of the National Army with the OSCE Mission to Moldova in the field of physical security and management of arms and ammunition stocks is based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova in the field of small arms and light weapons and conventional weapons in the Republic of Moldova, signed on October 28, 2010.
