The deadline for changing old identification cards for war veterans will be extended

The government has approved the extension of the term for changing the old model war veteran cards with the new model ones, until December 31, 2022. At the same time, the old model cards will remain valid until January 1, 2023.

The extension of the terms is conditioned by the fact that, so far, about 65% of the cards held by people registered as war veterans have been changed.

"This amendment will allow further examination of the applicants` files. Thus, the persons who have not yet changed their identity cards will continue to benefit from the rights and social guarantees provided by the normative framework based on the old model documents they hold ", mentioned the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii.

This Decision shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the data presented by the Interdepartmental Commission for ensuring the change and issuance of the war veteran card, so far, the status of war veteran, with the issuance of new type cards, has been reconfirmed for 22,606 people.
