Management of weapons and ammunition stocks in the National Army, for the attention of foreign experts



CHISINAU, December 10, 2021 - The 3rd Meeting at the level of experts in the field of "Small Arms and Light Weapons, Conventional Ammunition, as well as Physical Security and Stock Management in the National Army" took place today at the Ministry of Defense.

The event was attended by representatives of international organizations - OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Golden West Humanitarian Foundation, International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT) , The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, heads of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, as well as commanders of military units.

During the activity, the concept of management of arms and ammunition stocks in the 3-Zone National Army (North, Center, and South) was presented, developed jointly with national and international experts in the field, in a workshop held during the week at the headquarters of the defense institution.

This concept, which aims to protect the civilian population by reducing the risk of uncontrolled explosions in ammunition depots, includes design, assessment and technical expertise for an armament and ammunition depot area, in accordance with the requirements of national and international standards. .At the meeting, the Secretary of State in the field of resources of the national defense system, human resources development and military education, Sergiu Plop, mentioned in recent years, the National Army carried out a series of activities that contributed to increasing and promoting consolidation measures, security and safety in the region, concrete actions in the field of small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition, in which national and international best practices have been used in this regard.

In this regard, Sergiu Plop thanked all the participants in the meeting for the ideas and recommendations submitted to improve the situation in the field. At the same time, the Secretary of State highlighted the support provided by foreign partners in improving the situation in the field of management of arms and ammunition stocks, training of responsible personnel and securing the ammunition depots of the National Army.

It should be noted that the expert level meeting was organized in accordance with the National Army Action Plan for 2020-2024 in the field of Small Arms and Light Weapons, Conventional Ammunition, as well as Physical Security and Stock Management.
