The government gave a positive conclusion: the year 2022 will be declared the Year of Gratitude to war veterans
The year 2022 will be declared the Year of Gratitude to war veterans, participants in the actions to fight for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova. The Government approved this draft decision, which was submitted to the Parliament as a legislative initiative.
The initiative comes in appreciation of the special merits of the veterans who participated in the actions for the defense of the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, but also in connection with the celebration, on March 2, 2022, of 30 years since the beginning of the on the Dniester.
According to the document, the Government is to develop a national program of actions dedicated to the Year of Gratitude to war veterans. It will include a number of socio-cultural and educational activities throughout the country, including meetings of war veterans with students in middle and high schools. The expenses related to the implementation of the respective actions will be covered from the state budget for 2022.
Some 30,000 people took part in the 1992 armed conflict on the Dniester, of whom 301 were killed and 3500 were injured. Currently, 25,746 veterans are registered in the Republic of Moldova.
