National Army – North Carolina National Guard Bilateral Cooperation



CHISINAU, June 23, 2011 – Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met today, June 23, with Major General Gregory Lusk, US North Carolina National Guard Commander.

The dialogue focused on the assessment of the National Army – North Carolina National Guard cooperation. The officials also established the prior areas of further cooperation, referring mainly to the dynamic and multidimensional character of the cooperation between both structures.

During the meeting, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta pointed to the goal of the Chisinau Executive Power to provide Moldova citizens with a democratic governing system, based on law supremacy following the Western model.

As for the military system, Marinuta said “We have been always committed to keep implementing defense reforms, encourage the Strategic Defense Review implementation, as well as other projects included in the Moldovan military institution agenda”.

Major Gen. Lusk appreciated the National Army’s progress in different areas in a short period of time. The official stated the process should continue given the fact the Moldovan military institution benefits from all the necessary external support. Moldova assumed the responsibility to become a democratic country that would promote peace and security in the world.

While in Republic of Moldova, the American delegation will familiarize with the activity of some National Army military units. The officials will also visit Bulboaca Training Facility.
