Recruits Compete for Military Sports Cup

CHISINAU, June 27, 2011 — The second round of the military-sports games “Pe meleagurile natale” was held at Dacia and Moldova Brigades Training Facilities.

The regional stage of the military sports games brought together nearly 100 recruits from the North and South of Moldova. The teams of Cahul, Taraclia and Gagauz Military Centers competed for the great prize at Dacia Brigade Training Center. At the same time, the teams from Balti, Orhei, Soroca and Edinet fought for the cup at Moldova Brigade Training Facility.

According to LCT Viorel Mitelea, Mobilization Resource Management Center, the competition consists of three rounds: district, regional and republican. The participants were aged 16 to 18 years old. These are young men that are to join the Armed Forces soon. “The goal of this competition deals with the recruits’ military-patriotic education, as well as their preparation for the military service within Republic of Moldova Armed Forces”, Mitelea stated.

This sports competition is both, individual and team event. The program includes running at 100 and 1000 meter distance, standard dead-hand pull up, hand grenade throwing, shooting pneumatic rifle, military relay race, and others.

The winner of the competition was the team of Cahul Military Center from the South of the republic and Orhei Military Center from the North.

The last round of the military sports games will be held August 22-24 at Bulboaca Training Facility.
