Members of the European Parliament visit the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, April 1, 2022 - Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii had a meeting today with members of the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament, chaired by Urmas Paet and Nathalie Loiseau, respectively.
The agenda included topics on cooperation with EU countries and international organizations, defense priorities, as well as the regional security situation, including the refugee crisis in Ukraine.
Anatolie Nosatii mentioned that the visit of the members of the European Union Parliament to our country demonstrates the interest in supporting the objective of European integration of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the implementation of reforms in all national sectors, including defense.
The Minister of Defense referred to the priorities of transforming the National Army into a modern institution following international standards, the participation of the National Army in peacekeeping operations abroad, and the support of the military to civilian authorities in managing the flow of refugees from Ukraine. Minister Anatolie Nosatii appreciated, in this sense, the assistance provided by the European Union in the context of the deployment of the Moldovan military in the EU training mission in Mali, the development of medical and engineering skills within the European Peace Facility (EPF) platform, but also the expertise in the modernization and reform of the National Army.
It should be mentioned that the deputies from the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament pay a visit to the Republic of Moldova between March 31 and April 2 this year.
