European officials in dialogue with the Minister of Defense

CHISINAU, April 12, 2022 - Today, at the headquarters of the institution, the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii received the members of the delegation of the Parliamentary Group of the European Progressive Alliance of Social Democrats within the European Parliament, led by Iratxe García Pérez.

The cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the countries of the European Union and international organizations, the priorities in the field of defense, but also the regional security situation, including the refugee crisis in Ukraine, were the main topics discussed during the meeting.

Other topics covered were the European integration aspirations of the Republic of Moldova, assistance in the Eastern Partnership, and the European Peace Facility (EPF) platform, which focused on developing medical and engineering skills.

Anatolie Nosatii informed the officials about the reforms carried out in the National Army, aimed at transforming the defense institution into a modern one, following international democratic standards. The official thanked European countries for their support in deploying Moldovan troops to the training mission in Mali, specifying that one of the proposed objectives is to increase the National Army`s participation in international peacekeeping operations.

Finally, the parties agreed to continue the implementation of joint projects and programs initiated in the field of defense.
