Playground for Moldovan Servicemen’s Kids

CHISINAU, July 08 — A group of US Army cadets, along with the National Army servicemen and students of Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy of the Armed Forces, installed a playground for children of Dimitrie Cantemir Anti-air Missile Unit servicemen from Danceni, within a humanitarian aid project.

The commander of the Anti-air Missile Unit, LTC Ion Braniste, stated this project is a great joy both for the kids and for their parents. This is not the first social action of this kind carried out within the Partnership for Peace Program and meant to improve the image of the Moldovan and American military in the society. “The playground will be a more secure environment for military families’ kids”, Braniste added.

Maj. Jeremiah Naylor, leader of the American group, added that, except the fact the American cadets had been familiarized with the activity of military units, the curriculum and living conditions of Moldovan military students and servicemen, the work they’d done for the playground along with the Moldovan military students is very useful for their experience, as well as an important aspect of their visit to Republic of Moldova. Naylor appreciated the importance of such kind of projects for children. “We pledge for a further cooperation to support humanitarian actions for the society”, Naylor said.

Nearly 40 children will play on the merry-go-round, toboggan and gliders while teenagers will have the opportunity to play football on a mini football ground.

Ten cadets were deployed to Republic of Moldova during June 27 — July 16 by the United States Army Reserve Officer Corps Command.
