Intergovernmental seminar in the field of national security and crisis management, organized at the Ministry of Defense
CHISINAU, August 4, 2022 — The intergovernmental seminar on national security and crisis management is being held at the Ministry of Defense on August 4-5. The event is organized by the Supreme Security Council, the Ministry of Defense, and the European Center for Security Studies "George C. Marshal" of the USA. The Adviser to the President of the Republic of Moldova in the Field of Defense and National Security, Secretary of the Supreme Security Council Dorin Recean, the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii, the US ambassador to Chisinau E.S. Kent D. Longsdon, representative of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Moldova Francesca Bonelli. Likewise, members of the National Security, Defense, and Public Order Parliamentary Commission, representatives of public institutions and non-governmental organizations, advisers, specialists from the Ministry of Defense, and the General Staff of the National Army are present.
The seminar focuses on topics related to crisis management at the inter-institutional level and on the principles of strategic communication. Case studies, examples, and discussions are examined, as well as reflections on the National Security Strategy. In the opening message, presidential adviser Dorin Recean thanked the organizers, especially the "George C. Marshall" European Center for Security Studies. He specified that the Republic of Moldova is in a process of learning lessons in the context of the refugee crisis and reconsidering the inter-institutional management of national security to be more effective even in the face of possible crisis.
"This event allows us to work together so that, in the end, we have a specific plan thanks to which the Government, together with the whole society, will be even stronger and more determined to defend the true values," said Dorin Recean.
For his part, Minister Anatolie Nosatii emphasized the importance of this activity, noting that the themes of the seminar related to the management of various crises, namely the adaptation of the National Security Strategy through the lens of interdepartmental cooperation and crisis management, is a topic of major topicality for our state.
Also, Francesca Bonelli presented some aspects of the management of the crisis of refugees from Ukraine on the territory of our country by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and UNHCR for five months, expressing gratitude to the Government and the people of the Republic of Moldova.
