The budget of the Ministry of Defense for 2023 will be increased by 649.9 million lei

CHISINAU, December 8, 2022 — The budget of the Ministry of Defense will be increased by 649.9 million lei, in accordance with the provisions of the draft State Budget Law for 2023, approved on Wednesday, December 7, by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Thus, according to the document, the allocations for the defense institution will constitute 1,697.1 million lei, which represents 0.55% of GDP.

In this sense, expenditures on the “National Defense” sector will increase by approximately 68.2% compared to 2022, reaching 1,523.3 million lei.

At the same time, in accordance with the approved Project, the law regarding the unitary salary system in the budget sector will be modified. Thus, the minimum salary for the staff in the budget sector will be increased from 3,500 lei to 4,000 lei.

At the same time, all budget workers, including the military, will benefit from a monthly increase of 1,300 gross lei.

It should be noted that currently, the budget of the Ministry of Defense is 1,056.9 million lei, which is 0.38% of the Gross Domestic Product.
