The Minister of Defense, in dialogue with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, December 28, 2022 — Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii had a meeting today with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Republic of Moldova, Dima Al-Khatib.

The collaboration of the defense institution with the UN and the achievements of 2022 in the field, as well as the prospects for the development of the partnership, were the main topics of the discussion.

In this regard, the Minister of Defense thanked the official for the contribution to the promotion of gender equality by implementing, at the national level, jointly with the organization UN Women Moldova, the UN Resolution 1325 Women, Peace and Security.

The parties also addressed the potential support that the UNDP could continue to offer within the projects to strengthen the energy efficiency of the infrastructure of the Ministry of Defense, promote gender equality in the context of the implementation of Resolution 1325, as well as in the field of professional reconversion and the social adaptation of military personnel who perform military service by contract, of civil servants with special status and of citizens transferred to the reserve.

For her part, Dima Al-Khatib appreciated the openness of the specialists from the Ministry of Defense in the context of achieving the objectives of promoting gender equality, expressing her hope that the two structures will continue to collaborate as effectively in the future in promoting the joint projects initiated.
