Moldovan-American bilateral dialogue at the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, March 14, 2023 — The Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, today had a meeting with the head of the Directorate for Plans, Policies and Strategy of the US Command in Europe, Major General Daniel Lasica, on a working visit to Chisinau.

During the meeting, which was also attended by specialists from the subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, the military officials discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation relations in the field of defense, the assistance provided over the years by the American side in different programs and projects of common interest.

At the same time, the dialogue focused on the expertise offered in the implementation of military reform, the elaboration of policy documents, the training of the National Army in various fields within the framework of specialized courses and multinational exercises carried out both on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and abroad. The parties referred, in particular, to the assistance provided to our country in the context of the partnership between the North Carolina National Guard and the National Army, including in the field of professional training.

Also, a special emphasis in the discussion was placed on the training of the Moldovan military in the context of participation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN, NATO and the EU, as well as the continuous support provided to the contingents of the National Army when deployed in the international KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
