The Minister of Defense, in talks with representatives of the Security and Defense Committee (SEDE) of the European Parliament

CHISINAU, May 17, 2023 — Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi had a meeting with the delegation of the Security and Defense Committee (SEDE) of the European Parliament, led by parliamentarian Nathalie Loiseau.

The officials addressed topics regarding the regional security situation and the effects our country is currently facing, as well as the democratic reforms carried out in the National Army, the necessary assistance in the modernization of defense capabilities.

Minister Anatolie Nosatîi emphasized the importance of the partnership with the European Union and the constant support, materialized through projects and initiatives implemented including in the field of defense.

In this context, Minister Nosatîi thanked the European delegation for the assistance within the European Peace Instrument (EPF) aimed at strengthening the defense capabilities of the National Army and adjusting it to international standards operated in peacekeeping missions in which our country participates.

Other topics addressed concerned the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the actions taken in this regard by the leadership of our country, the expectations from the Summit of the European Political Community, which will take place on June 1 in Chisinau, as well as the establishment in April , of the civilian political mission of the EU in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova) for providing assistance in the implementation of democratic reforms in the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU.

In this sense, Anatolie Nosatîi mentioned that, although the military field is not directly part of this mission, the Ministry of Defense considers the important role of the EU in increasing the national resilience of the Republic of Moldova and, as a result, strengthening regional stability.
