3rd International High Level Conference on Small Arms, Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition in the National Army
CHISINAU, May 25, 2023 — The 3rd edition of the international high-level conference on small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition in the National Army of the Republic of Moldova took place today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense.
The event, organized by the Logistics Directorate and the Armament and Ammunition Center of the National Army, with the support of the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT — Ammunition Management Advisory Team), was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, representatives of the Parliament, Ministries of Internal Affairs and Justice, Diplomatic Corps, NGOs, OSCE Mission, International Committee of the Red Cross, South-Eastern and Eastern European Small Arms and Light Weapons Control Office (SEESAC), Partnership Mission of the EU in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM-Moldova), the humanitarian organizations HALO Trust and ITF Enhancing Human Security, as well as experts in the field from Germany and Switzerland.

Present at the meeting, the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi emphasized that, currently, the management of the institution is making considerable efforts to integrate the management of stocks of conventional weapons and ammunition, as part of the national efforts to develop and transform the defense and security sector of the Republic of Moldova.
“During the last decade, the National Army has carried out a series of activities in order to improve and strengthen security and safety at the storage sites of the armaments and ammunition. We have implemented concrete projects and actions in the field of small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition, based on national and international best practices. All these achievements are also due to our external partners, whom we thank for the expertise offered in the field. Certainly, our cooperation does not end here. We will continue to make efforts to ensure a safe, secure and sustainable management of weapons and ammunition not only in the National Army, but also in other relevant institutions in our country”, said Anatolie Nosatîi.
The Minister of Defense expressed his belief that this conference will generate new ways of cooperation and coordination to further develop a safe, secure and sustainable management of arms and ammunition stocks in the National Army.
The second edition of the high-level international conference on small arms, light weapons and conventional ammunition in the National Army of the Republic of Moldova took place in November 2019.
