The Monograph “Organization of the Republic of Moldova Military Institution (1990-2011)” Has Been Launched



CHISINAU, September 3, 2011 — The Minister of Defense, along with National Army officers, laid flowers at Stefan cel Mare monument, Maica Indurerata (Grieving Mother) statue of Eternitate Memorial and at the military graves of the Armenian Cemetery, September 3 morning, on the 20th anniversary of the National Army.

The army’s 20th anniversary events included the launching ceremony of the monograph “Organization of the Republic of Moldova Military Institution (1990-2011)” and an exhibition of cold weapons host by the National Army Museum and the National Army Central House. The author of the work is Vitalie Ciobanu, Chief of National Army Museum. The book is a historical review of the army, containing a few important documents on the establishment and development of the military system.

Vitalie Marinuta, Minister of Defense, stated that such events are important both, for the National Army and society, for they represent the history of the National Army development within our society.

The exhibition of cold arms will stay open until October 1. The exhibition displays a collection of nearly 1000 pieces belonging to Petru Costin. The objects exhibited are made of silex, bones, bronze and iron. The director of Mihai Eminescu Romanian Cultural Institute from Chisinau, historian Petre Guran, stated these weapons remind and tell us about our heroes’ moral thinking.

The National Army was established on September 3, 1991, as a guarantee of the statehood and integrity of our country, through Republic of Moldova first President, Mircea Snegur.
