101 Explosive Devices Liquidated by the National Army EOD Engineers in August
CHISINAU, September 5, 2011 — The National Army EODs’ services were requested in Chisinau and Hincesti district in August.
According to LTC Mihail Semionov, Chief of National Army EOD Department, 70 explosives were discovered on Uzinelor Street from Chisinau, during some building works. Stefan cel Mare Brigade engineers discovered 65 artillery projectiles of 57 mm caliber and 5 cartridges.
Other 6 explosive devices, including an F-1 grenade, an 82 mm mine launcher and a 76 mm artillery projectile, were discovered near Stolniceni village, Hincesti, in a forest, during some archeological digs.
After a thorough investigation, the military engineers concluded the ammunition dated back to Second World War. Thus, the explosives were taken to Bulboaca Training Site and destroyed.
This year, the National Army engineers went to 174 bomb disposal sites and liquidated 2 124 explosive devices all over the country.
