Hungarian Defense Attaché Visits Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, October 17, 2011 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta met Monday, October 17, with the Ambassador of Hungary, His Excellency E.S. Gyorgy Varga, who introduced Col. Istvan Toth, the defense attaché of Hungary to Moldova based in Kiev. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Defense.

The Minister of Defense congratulated Istvan Toth on the assignment hoping that this would enhance Moldovan-Hungarian military cooperation.

“I am sure the new defense attaché will support our joint efforts to identify all the necessary mechanisms to develop more dynamic military cooperation relations of our countries. I would highly appreciate the former defense attaché’s contribution to the organization of a few bilateral affairs activities in the defense area”, Minister of Defense stated.

Ambassador Gyorgy Varga highly appreciated the dialogue and thanked the Minister of Defense for openness in term of maintaining bilateral affairs at a high level.

Istvan Toth was assigned defense attaché of Republic of Hungary to Republic of Moldova in April. This is the official’s first visit to the Ministry of Defense. Before that, the Hungarian defense attaché to Moldova was Col. Andras Juhasz.

The new defense attaché to Republic of Moldova is 56. He is married and has four children. Col. Istvan Toth speaks English, Russian and German languages.

NOTE: Moldovan military cooperation is based on the Military Cooperation Agreement concluded November 25, 1997.
