Extraordinary JCC Session

CHISINAU, October 28, 2011 — The problem of unauthorized “border guard” and “immigration” checkpoints by Tiraspol authorities near Pohrebea village and on the left bank of the Dubasari Hydroelectric Power Plant barrage was examined at the forth meeting of the extraordinary session of the Joint Control Commission held October 28, 2011, in Dubasari.

The participants discussed how to overcome the problem of the illicit checkpoint installed in the region. The Republic of Moldova delegation found a constructive approach to the above issue developing solutions based on proposals issued by the Russian, Ukrainian and OSCE delegations. The Moldovan delegation focused on the need to establish a necessary environment for the free movement of citizens, goods and services in the Security area.

The members of delegation decided to meet again on November 1, 2011, at the next round of the extraordinary session of the Joint Control Commission for some additional negotiations. The parties promised not to take any measures meant to disturb the situation in the Security Area.
