Military Political Talks in Vienna

CHISINAU, November 23, 2011 — The head of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate of the Ministry of Defense visited Austria November 14 — 17 at the invitation of his Austrian counterpart, Maj. Gen. Johann Pucher, Director of the Security Policy Department.

LTC Vladimir Ababii met with officials and assistants for Caucasus states and Republic of Moldova at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria HQ. Ababii also familiarized with the activity of the International Peace Institute from Vienna, a nongovernmental non-profit Austrian organization.

The Head of the Defense Policy and Planning Directorate attended military political talks held at the Ministry of National Defense and Sport. The meetings brought together experts of the Security Defense Department such as heads of directorates, defense and protocol attaches, experts in military policy, reforms and changes. The parties identified new areas of cooperation and discussed about the further examination and inclusion of the Moldovan Defense Ministry representative’s proposals in a yearly bilateral cooperation plan.

The visit of LTC Vladimir Ababii to Austria is a follow-up of the meeting of Maj. Gen. Johann Pucher and Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta held December 2009 in Chisinau.
