The interim Premier stated that our country’s participation in peacekeeping operations is an opportunity to contribute to international security and mentioned that this way Moldova materializes its foreign policy.

The acting Head of Government expressed an optimistic view on Moldova’s foreign policy and noted that “such operations involving our military prove our country’s commitment to promote world peace and stability”.

Ambassador of Italy to Chisinau, Enrico Nunziata, said that the Italian battalion serving in Kosovo is proud to continue to offer its logistic support to the Moldovan friends and awaits the arrival of the new contingent.

On behalf of the Italian Government, Enrico Nunziata expressed the most sincere appreciation to Moldovan soldiers for their exceptional contribution to maintaining peace in Kosovo. “This participation proves the important role Moldova intends to play on international level as an active contributor to peacekeeping”, said the Ambassador of Italy to Chisinau.

The Minister of Defense encouraged the servicemembers who are to leave for Kosovo to prove to their partners that they have the necessary training for fulfilling peacekeeping missions. “It is your duty to convince them that the Republic of Moldova has an important role in keeping the international stability and could become a security contributor”, stated Anatol Salaru.

The fourth National Army contingent, that will leave for Kosovo on Sunday, December 6, consists of 41 servicemembers, out of which one staff officer, 7 EOD engineers, and a platoon of 33 servicemembers that will carry out security, guard and patrol missions.
